Senior comedian Praveen, widely appreciated for his comic timing in several successful Telugu films, is now stepping into the spotlight as the lead actor in an upcoming film titled Bakasura Restaurant. Known for its quirky and catchy title, the film is touted as a “hunger comedy entertainer” and features Viva Harsha in the title role. Alongside them, the film boasts a strong supporting cast including Krishna Bhagavan, Shining Phani (popular as Bamchik Bunty), and KGF Garuda Ram in key roles.
Bakasura Restaurant marks the directorial debut of S. J. Shiva and is produced by Lakshmayya Achari and Janardhan Achari under the SJ Movies banner. The film’s production has been completed and it is now ready for release. The trailer was recently launched at a special event by acclaimed director Maruthi, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Speaking at the launch, Praveen shared his excitement about playing the lead for the first time and thanked Maruthi for his support, recalling how Prema Katha Chitram, directed by Maruthi, had a significant impact on his career. Maruthi, in turn, praised the film’s title and expressed happiness at seeing Praveen step into a lead role, noting that he believes the movie will strike a chord with audiences.
Producer Janardhan Achari revealed that he was instantly drawn to the story when director Shiva narrated it and felt Praveen was the perfect fit for the lead character. He added that all the actors gave standout performances, particularly KGF Garuda Ram, whose role is expected to be a major highlight.
Director S. J. Shiva expressed his happiness at introducing Praveen as a hero and emphasized that the story offers something fresh and never-before-seen in Telugu cinema. He praised his team’s hard work and expressed confidence that the film would entertain viewers of all ages.
Viva Harsha described the film as a clean and family-friendly entertainer, blending humor with horror elements—a genre that is currently trending with audiences. He also praised the director for working with the finesse of an experienced filmmaker and said that the movie will be a special experience for everyone involved.
The film also stars Srikant Iyengar, Uppena Jayakrishna, Vivek Dandu, Amar, Ram Patas, Ramya Priya, Prachi Thakur, and Jabardasth Apparao. With cinematography by Bala Saraswathi, editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh, and music composed by Vikas Badisa, the film’s technical crew includes executive producer Vinay Kotti and art director Sri Raja CR Thangala. Publicity for the film is being handled by PROs Eluru Srinu and Maduri Madhu.
Bakasura Restaurant is all set to serve up a fresh cinematic experience with comedy, quirk, and a touch of horror—coming soon to theatres.
