After creating solid buzz with aggressive promotions in the Mumbai media circuit, Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu had successfully positioned Akhanda 2 as a highly anticipated release. However, the sudden postponement of the film’s planned December 5 release slightly diluted the momentum. Now, the makers are reportedly charting out an interesting strategy to regain and amplify the hype.

At present, Bollywood has very limited big-ticket releases in theatres. Apart from Dhurandhar, which released on December 5, there are no major Hindi films drawing crowds. The next significant release on the horizon is Hollywood’s Avatar 3, scheduled to hit screens on December 19. Interestingly, early reports suggest that Avatar 3 received mixed responses during special premiere shows, opening up a potential opportunity in the market.

Sensing this gap, the Akhanda 2 team is said to be keen on capitalising on the window leading up to the New Year. As part of this renewed push, Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu recently visited Varanasi and reportedly interacted with real-life Aghoras to discuss the thematic aspects of the film. Earlier attempts were also made to present the film to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, though those efforts did not materialise as planned.

With Boyapati Sreenu’s bold and straightforward interviews going viral, there is now growing curiosity about Akhanda 2 even within Bollywood circles. Industry sources suggest that Hindi media platforms are open to hosting the team once again. If this second phase of aggressive promotions in Mumbai goes as planned, it could significantly boost the film’s visibility and translate into better box-office traction across markets.
