Director Premkumar, celebrated for his emotionally driven films like 96 and Meiyazhagan (Telugu: Sathyam Sundaram), is now venturing into action cinema. Fans have been eagerly awaiting his collaboration with Chiyaan Vikram, tentatively titled Chiyaan64, which was announced in July. However, that project remains in the scripting phase, with Premkumar noting that he needs more time to complete it.
Meanwhile, Premkumar is gearing up to direct a new action thriller starring Fahadh Faasil, a project he has been developing for nearly four years. In a recent interview, he shared, “My film with Fahadh will be very different from my previous works in terms of genre. But it will still retain the emotional core that connects with the audience.” Fahadh reportedly loved the story. “I narrated just 40 minutes, and each scene elicited a unique reaction from him. It was exciting to watch. This will be a direct Tamil film,” Premkumar added.
Producer Ishari Ganesh confirmed the collaboration, stating, “Premkumar is one of the finest directors. I loved 96 and Meiyazhagan. Now we are bringing him together with Fahadh Faasil. It will be another Aavesham. Shooting will start soon.” The previous film Aavesham had reintroduced Fahadh to a wider audience, and this new project is expected to showcase a fresh side of the actor.
Production is slated to begin in January 2026, with the story said to be unique. The film is produced by VELS. Fahadh Faasil, who was last seen in the Malayalam film Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, is also working on the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer Patriot while preparing for this Tamil action thriller.
