Actor Priyanka Chopra and her British pop star Husband Nick Jonas chipped in for COVID-19 relief fundraiser Together For India, which has accumulated Rs 7.5 crores till date. Now with the situation not coming under control, the actress aspires to raise the fund to Rs. 22 crores in order to aid the country.
She recently insisted people and her fans to donate whatever they can afford. In a video, she and GiveIndia’s Atul Satija spoke about where and how the funds are being utilised. “It’s been a tumultuous couple of months with so much happening on ground across India in the battle against Covid 19. The #TogetherForIndia Fundraiser that @nickjonas and I started with our partners @give_india has raised over $1 million (around Rs 7.5 crores) has been put to good use towards procurement of medical equipment like oxygen cylinders and concentrators and vaccination support,” the actor penned while sharing the video.
We know there is a lot left to be done and so we’ve increased our target to $3 million (around Rs. 22 crores),” she added.”
From the video we can see that Priyanka is keen in supporting humanitarian aid programmes such as cooked meals and essential rations. She addressed that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused poverty among over 230 million Indians and this has had a direct impact on hunger and malnutrition.
