Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently celebrated Diwali in London, sharing insights about the festival and her Bollywood recommendations in a candid interview with British Vogue.
When asked which of her films she would suggest to someone unfamiliar with Bollywood, Priyanka immediately picked Dil Dhadakne Do, saying it was recommended to her by her husband, Nick Jonas, and that many of her friends who haven’t watched Hindi cinema enjoyed it.
Speaking about what makes Diwali special for her, Priyanka said, “It marks the coming together of friends, family, food, and laughter. Also, just the joy of hope, as this festival is the victory of good over evil. In a world where everything is a little strange and tumultuous, I feel it gives me a lot of solace.”
Priyanka also shared how she introduces her overseas friends to Indian traditions, explaining, “I have a beautiful mandir (temple) in my house, and we do pujas, especially on Diwali. Many of my non-Desi friends join me for those pujas. I also give Indian clothing as gifts, and recently introduced many of them to achar (pickle).”
On the professional front, Priyanka was last seen in the Hollywood action-comedy Heads of State, starring alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. She will next be seen in The Bluff and Judgement Day, and is also set to star alongside Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29.
This interview highlighted not only Priyanka’s connection to her roots but also her efforts to share Indian culture and traditions with friends around the world.
