Amid ongoing speculation about actress Sreeleela hiking her remuneration to ₹7 crore, a well-known Telugu film producer has dismissed the reports as completely unfounded. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the producer called the rumours “baseless and false.”
“These figures are being thrown around without any real basis,” he clarified. “The Telugu film industry, despite its recent pan-India success, still operates with more modest budgets when it comes to paying heroines.”
According to him, top Telugu actresses—including Rashmika Mandanna, Tamannaah Bhatia, Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Shruti Haasan, and Sreeleela—typically command fees in the range of ₹3 to ₹5 crore. “Rashmika has a slight edge because of her pan-India image, and she might cross ₹5 crore with her next film. But none of the actresses are earning ₹7 or ₹8 crore as rumored.”
In contrast, Bollywood stars who appear in Telugu films are in an entirely different league when it comes to pay. “Priyanka Chopra is reportedly being paid ₹30 crore for SSMM29, while Deepika Padukone earned nearly ₹20 crore for Kalki 2898 AD,” he revealed. These numbers, he explained, reflect more than acting fees—they are a reflection of overall brand value.
“These actresses have massive global recognition, international brand endorsements, and a combined follower base in the tens of millions across platforms like Instagram and X. That kind of reach justifies their higher remuneration.”
The producer emphasized that while the Telugu film industry is evolving, there’s still a long way to go before local heroines can command Bollywood-level paychecks. “Discussions around pay parity sound great on paper, but in practice, there’s a significant gap that remains,” he concluded.
