Director Puri Jagannadh recently shared a heartfelt photo on social media, posing with veteran screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad and his long-time collaborator Charmee Kaur. The picture instantly caught the attention of fans and film circles, sparking speculation about a potential collaboration between the two.
Puri, who has been seeking a strong comeback following the back-to-back setbacks of Liger and Double iSmart, seemed visibly happy during the meeting. Fans were quick to comment, suggesting that had this meeting happened earlier, Puri’s recent films might have had a different fate.
After Liger’s disappointing performance, Puri received a surprising yet emotional phone call from Vijayendra Prasad. Despite meeting occasionally in the past, this call felt different. Prasad, known for his storytelling acumen, urged Puri to share his scripts before locking them, stating, “I can’t see filmmakers like you falter because of small mistakes.”
The conversation left a deep impact on Puri, who even mentioned it during the pre-release event of Double iSmart. However, he chose not to take Prasad’s offer at that time, believing the film would speak for itself. Unfortunately, the outcome was yet another disappointment.
Now, it seems Puri has taken that experience to heart. With his next film, a pan-India project starring Vijay Sethupathi, set to begin filming in June, the director appears to be moving forward with caution. The team is currently scouting locations in Chennai and Hyderabad, and the recent meeting with Prasad hints that Puri may be seeking expert guidance to avoid past mistakes.
Fans on social media are hopeful this marks a turning point in Puri Jagannadh’s career. Many believe that with Vijayendra Prasad’s inputs, the director has a real shot at delivering a massive hit.
