Puri Jagannadh’s Dream to Direct Chiranjeevi

Whether he delivers hits or flops, director Puri Jagannadh always manages to stay in the limelight. In his long career, he has worked with almost every top Telugu hero — except Megastar Chiranjeevi. Puri has directed films with Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Varun Tej and many others, but a film with Chiru has never materialized.

Several times, Puri tried to collaborate with Chiranjeevi. When the Megastar made his comeback with Khaidi No. 150, Puri even pitched the script of Auto Jaani. However, Chiru wasn’t impressed with the incomplete script, and the project was shelved. Despite repeated efforts, Puri could never lock a film with his idol.

The reason behind his persistence is simple — like millions of fans, Puri Jagannadh is also a hardcore admirer of Chiranjeevi. Back in his school days, he even sketched a portrait of the Megastar, which he has preserved to this day. Recently, while revisiting his old diary, Puri came across this sketch and shared it on social media. He revealed that during the release of Khaidi, the portrait was displayed at a theatre lounge under his name. That very 60/40 photograph has now gone viral online.

Fans are now once again dreaming of a Chiranjeevi–Puri Jagannadh collaboration on the big screen. Adding fuel to the buzz, Puri recently met Chiru on the sets of Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu to seek his blessings. This has sparked hopes that the long-awaited project between the Megastar and the maverick director might finally take shape.
