Pusapati Family Signals Strong Political Alignment Ahead of 2029 Vizianagaram Battle

Vizianagaram district has long remained under the political influence of the Pusapati royal family, whose legacy spans several decades of public service. Beginning with PVG Raju, the family has consistently produced influential leaders, including Anand Gajapathi Raju and Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who have served as MLAs, ministers, and Members of Parliament. Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s distinguished career culminated in his tenure as a Union Minister, and he is currently serving as the Governor of Goa.

In a recent development, land belonging to the Mansas Trust, owned by Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s family, has been allocated for the proposed Aviation City project at Bhimunipatnam. The programme, held in the presence of Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh, drew significant political attention. During the event, Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Gajapathi Raju announced that her family would donate nearly 130 acres of land free of cost to support the project.

Addressing the gathering, Ashok Gajapathi Raju reiterated his family’s long-standing commitment to public service. He spoke warmly of Nara Lokesh, describing him as a member of his own family and likening him to a son. He further stated that the tradition of public service upheld by the Pusapati family would continue through the next generation.

These developments have sparked discussion within political circles, with many interpreting the remarks and gestures as a clear indication that Aditi Gajapathi Raju has aligned herself closely with Lokesh’s political camp. Aditi, who has already secured the Vizianagaram Assembly ticket twice, is reportedly keen to contest again in 2029. However, her prospects are not without challenges, as Backward Class (BC) groups are also staking a claim to the seat.

Political analysts suggest that if Aditi Gajapathi Raju maintains a strong and visible association with Lokesh’s camp, dislodging her from the Vizianagaram constituency in the coming elections may prove difficult.
