Since its OTT debut on Netflix last week, Pushpa 2 has been creating a massive buzz, breaking records with an impressive number of views in its first few days. The film is performing exceptionally well on the streaming platform, garnering huge viewing minutes and sparking numerous debates across social media.
What’s particularly interesting is how the film has sparked discussions among western audiences. Viewers from the West, especially from the United States, are engaging in debates about the film’s action choreography, with specific focus on the intense climax fight and the Jathara episodes during the interval. While the Indian audience has already been praising the brilliant action and the dedication of Allu Arjun to bring these sequences to life, it’s the Western audience’s reaction that has caught many by surprise.
Many have openly compared the visual experience of Pushpa 2 to the action sequences of Marvel films, even suggesting that it may be superior to some of the recent Marvel blockbusters. This unexpected attention from the West has delighted Allu Sirish, Allu Arjun’s younger brother. He took to Twitter to express his excitement, saying, “I am glad Pushpa 2 is receiving insane love from the Western audience as well, especially for a film like this, which is vastly different from their culture.” It’s clear that Sirish is impressed by the recognition the film is receiving internationally.
It’s noteworthy that Western audiences are not typically accustomed to the aggressive characterizations and unique filmmaking style of Pushpa. Despite this, they’ve found the action choreography incredibly engaging, proving that the film’s universal appeal transcends cultural boundaries.
