Announcing the start of filming on X (formerly Twitter), Varma teased audiences with a striking new poster and dubbed his heroine “the most brutal superhero in the universe.”
This installment expands the Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) under the helm of director Pooja Kolluru, who brings fresh vision to the franchise. Unlike its Andhra-folklore–inspired predecessor, Mahakali delves into Bengali customs, spiritual rites, and rich mythology—promising a story steeped in local beliefs and symbolic depth.
