Actor, director, and producer R. Narayana Murthy on Saturday refuted statements made by Telugu Desam Party legislator and senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who claimed that Chiranjeevi had not intervened with former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to resolve film industry issues.
Narayana Murthy affirmed that Chiranjeevi’s account was “100% true,” recalling that he, too, had met the former CM to represent industry concerns. He emphasized that Jagan had never disrespected the film industry and had accorded the delegation full respect under Chiranjeevi’s leadership. Murthy also praised Chiranjeevi’s personal gesture of calling him, calling it a mark of his culture.
Murthy noted that it was Chiranjeevi’s intervention that successfully addressed industry issues during that meeting. He refrained from commenting directly on Balakrishna’s statement.
He further appealed to the current governments in the Telugu states to address challenges facing the film industry. “I urge Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy not to permit hikes in cinema ticket prices, as it will burden ordinary people,” he said.
Murthy appreciated Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s commitment to preventing ticket price increases and midnight shows and urged him to uphold it. He also expressed concern that smaller producers were suffering losses due to government-backed ticket price hikes.
