Raashi Khanna Speaks Up for Equal Pay and Gender-Neutral Art

Raashi Khanna, riding high on the success of the Tamil horror-comedy “Aranmanai 4,” is urging the film industry to move beyond gender bias in evaluating films and actors. During a press meet in Mumbai to promote the film’s Hindi release, Khanna emphasized the importance of merit-based judgment.

“Aranmanai 4,” a critically acclaimed and commercially successful female-led film, serves as a testament to the growing audience for women-centric narratives. Raashi Khanna, alongside her co-star Tamannaah Bhatia, celebrates this achievement.

“This is a validation for all female actors,” Khanna states. “We are capable of carrying entire films, and we need more filmmakers like Sundar C who believe in us. But even more importantly, art and cinema should not be defined by gender.”

Khanna extends her advocacy to equal pay within the industry. “It’s time to treat art equally,” she asserts. “Films like ‘Article 15,’ ‘Crew,’ and ‘Aranmanai 4’ demonstrate that female actors are just as capable as their male counterparts. We should be judged by the quality of the film, not by our gender. This includes receiving fair compensation – there’s a significant pay gap that needs to be addressed.

Directed by Sundar C, “Aranmanai 4” features a diverse cast, including Sundar C himself, Santhosh Prathap, Ramachandra Raju, and veteran actors like Kovai Sarala and Delhi Ganesh. Produced by Khushbu Sundar under the Avni Cinemax banner, the Hindi version is scheduled for release on May 31st.

Raashi Khanna has a promising lineup of upcoming projects, including “The Sabarmati Report,” “Telusu Kada,” and “Methavi.” With her talent and unwavering advocacy for fair treatment, Raashi Khanna is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in Indian cinema.
