Actor Radhika Apte has expressed strong concern over the increasing depiction of graphic violence in Indian films and web series, calling the trend “deeply disturbing.”
Without naming any specific projects, she shared her discomfort with onscreen gore and violence and voiced worries about raising her child in a society that normalizes such content as entertainment. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, she said, “I am deeply disturbed by the violence that is currently being sold as entertainment. I don’t want to raise a child in a world where this is considered entertainment.”
Apte also criticised filmmakers for equating shock value with meaningful storytelling, adding, “I don’t need to see the chopping. That is not storytelling.”
Meanwhile, Radhika will soon be seen in the upcoming OTT release Saali Mohabbat, a crime thriller exploring love and betrayal, which will stream on Zee5 starting December 12.
