Recently when AR Rahman met Telugu media a day before he took part in the first-ever live concert for Hyderabad audiences, the Oscar-winning composer revealed an interesting thing about Sye Raa.
He stated that his exit from the film is due to lack of dates though he always dreamt about working with Megastar Chiranjeevi. But it looks like the Chennai Mozart is joking as there is no such thing called he lacked dates.
Other day AR Rahman agreed to score for his nephew GV Prakash’s new film that will be directed by Rajiv Menon. Earlier Rajiv and Rahman collaborated on many films and ads, with their last outing being Priyuralu Pilichindi. One wonders if Rahman has got the time to pick this movie, and he couldn’t pick Sye Raa.
It’s being said that Rahman actually backed out from Megastar’s magnum opus for two reasons. Till date, Rahman has worked in direct Telugu films rarely, but those direct films are also directed by Tamil filmmakers. He seems not so comfortable with Telugu directors though most of his career happened with Telugu music directors.
At the same time, the Oscar winner is said to have demanded whopping 10 crores for three versions (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi) of Sye Raa, while Chiranjeevi and Charan are not okay with it, as the music remains same for all three versions. Rahman demanding huge remuneration has a reason that his brand name becomes a selling point in Hindi and Tamil too.
So, opting out of Sye Raa due to dates issues looks like the usual alternate statement used when one walks out due to remuneration issues.
