Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi arrested by UP police in Hathras

The sexual assault and the consequential death suffered by a 20 year old girl from Hathras is shocking everyone in the country. This incident is being compared to the 2012 Nirbhaya Case, where the victim suffered similarly. What’s worse in this case is that the body of the victim wasn’t given to the family, and was instead buried by the Hathras police at 2:30 AM on Wednesday, despite the repeated requests from the family.

The victim had suffered several injuries, including that of a cervical spine injury, and a gash in her tongue. Before passing away, she had even given an official statement, saying that she was gangraped by a group of men, and that they even tried to murder her. Following her statement, rape charges were filed against the accused, against whom only attempted murder charges were pressed earlier.

Despite official confirmation from the victim herself, the Uttar Pradesh Police are now saying that there’s no evidence of rape in the final forensic reports. The UP Police are saying that there was no evidence of sperms in the victim’s body, and are saying that she was not raped. Fact remains that sperms cannot be found in your body, days after the incident has happened. The UP Police are attracting a great deal of criticism for their insensitive statements about the victim not suffering rape.

On the other hand, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been taken into custody by the UP police today, when they were trying to visit the family of the victim in Hathras. Rahul Gandhi questioned the grounds on which he was being taken into custody, and even questioned if only Prime Minister Narendra Modi was allowed to walk in the country, and not anyone.

The UP Police explained that Rahul and Priyanka were taken into custody because they were walking with a group of people where Section 144 was imposed, and also said that there was a risk that the peace in the area would be disturbed with their entry.
