Congress president Rahul Gandhi is in no mood to continue in position of the party. He offered resignation to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) but the committee had rejected Rahul’s decision. However, the CWC did not take any decision on Rahul’s decision and reasons behind the party’s debacle in the elections.
Rahul on Monday met Ahmed Patel and general secretary KC Venugopal and insisted to accept his resignation. The Gandhi scion was also supposed to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot but he cancelled it in the last minute owing to be upset of the poll results.
In 17 states, Congress party has failed to win the trust of people and this has made the governments in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh fall in back seat. BJP is looking to take hold of Karnataka being the single largest party and there are similar scenes in MP as well. The most unsinkable thing is Rahul losing Amethi which is the Gandhi’s strong hold since three decades.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs of three states have tendered their resignation. Overall, the defeat in the general elections is shaking the Congress from grass root level. This is hardest phase of Congress ever since its existence and it has to come out quickly and learn from the mistakes.
