Raj Kasireddy, a relatively lesser-known figure until recently, has now emerged as a central accused in the high-profile liquor scam linked to the previous YSR Congress Party (YCP) government in Andhra Pradesh. His close association with former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has drawn significant attention, particularly in light of new revelations during the ongoing investigation.
Kasireddy, who was initially appointed as an IT correspondent under the YCP regime, reportedly found his way into the state’s liquor policy formulation committee—a move now being scrutinized amid serious corruption allegations.
According to reports, the Andhra Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken Kasireddy into custody and subjected him to extensive interrogation. During an eight-hour questioning session, he was reportedly asked over a hundred questions concerning his role in shaping the state’s liquor policy. While he remained guarded on many counts, one reported admission has made headlines.
As per a recent Eenadu report, Kasireddy is said to have confessed that he was directly instructed by Jagan Mohan Reddy to design the liquor policy in a manner that would channel significant financial gains into the YCP party fund. This allegation marks a major development in the investigation, suggesting deliberate political motives behind the policy structure implemented during the YCP tenure.
The SIT is now examining the role of various distilleries and bottling plants that flourished under the previous administration. Special focus is being placed on the controversial “cash-only” transaction policy that was enforced during this period, which investigators believe may have been instrumental in generating untraceable funds.
