SS Rajamouli Inaugurates India’s First Dolby Post-Production Facility at Annapurna
Akkineni Nagarjuna, known for pioneering innovation in Telugu and Indian cinema, has taken a significant leap forward in enhancing filmmaking standards. Continuing the legacy of his father, the legendary ANR, Nagarjuna has turned Annapurna Studios into a state-of-the-art facility. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the studio has now launched India’s first Dolby-certified postproduction facility for cinema and home.
In collaboration with Dolby, this new facility aims to elevate the audio-visual standards of Indian filmmaking to global benchmarks. Acclaimed director SS Rajamouli inaugurated the facility, alongside Nagarjuna and Supriya Yarlagadda, Executive Director of Annapurna Studios.
At the event, scenes from Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, the first Indian film to be showcased in Dolby Cinema, were screened in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. Rajamouli praised Nagarjuna and the Akkineni family for their commitment to advancing Indian cinema. He expressed his excitement about having Dolby Vision grading available in India, saying, “For RRR, I had to travel to Germany for proper Dolby Vision grading. Now, I’m thrilled that my next project can be done here in Hyderabad.”
Nagarjuna highlighted Annapurna Studios’ ongoing mission to innovate and bring global standards to Indian cinema. Reflecting on the studio’s journey, he stated, “From pioneering virtual production to now introducing the country’s first Dolby Certified Postproduction Facility, we have always aimed to put Indian films on the global map. This collaboration with Dolby is a milestone in our journey of embracing change and innovation.”
