For the past few days, social media has been abuzz with speculation that ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has finalized “Varanasi” as the title for his highly anticipated global adventure film starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.
The buzz gained momentum after Rajamouli recently confirmed that a title glimpse will be unveiled in November, setting fans’ excitement soaring. According to industry insiders, the teaser cut has already been sent to the VFX team with the working title Varanasi.
Despite the growing chatter, Rajamouli and his team have chosen to maintain silence, neither confirming nor denying the rumors. Until now, the project has been referred to as SSMB29 or GlobeTrotter in trade circles.
With reports suggesting that the film carries mythological undertones and features the sacred city of Varanasi as a key part of the story, many fans believe the title aligns perfectly with Rajamouli’s grand vision.
Backed by K.L. Narayana under the Durga Arts banner, the film is being mounted on a massive ₹1100 crore budget, making it the most expensive production in Indian cinema history.
