Coolie is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj
and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, and editing by Philomin Raj, Coolie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2025, in standard and IMAX formats.
Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, making his Tamil debut with Coolie, portrays the character Dayal. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj praised Soubin’s performance, describing the experience of working with him as “enthralling.” Soubin expressed admiration for Rajinikanth’s dedication on set, noting the veteran actor’s discipline and commitment during filming.
