Every time Superstar Rajinikanth and Anirudh collaborate, they create a unique musical magic that fans can’t get enough of. Whether it was the electrifying Jailer theme or the energetic Hunter song, Anirudh’s compositions always send Rajini’s fans into a frenzy. The duo has now reunited for Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and recently dropped the first single, “Chikitu.” However, this new track offers a very different musical flavor.
“Chikitu” stands out for its subtle and unconventional vibe. Unlike a typical mass anthem or dance banger, the song leans into a more situational groove. TR Rajender’s voice in the teaser earlier had raised expectations of a high-energy, foot-tapping number, but the full song takes a much slower and more layered path. The highlight is TR’s vocal section that subtly weaves into Anirudh’s unique soundscape.
While “Chikitu” grows on you with every listen, it may not have the instant repeat appeal of an energetic party track. Given the massive anticipation surrounding Coolie and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s movies, fans were hoping for a more powerful song to match the hype. However, Anirudh has delivered something off-beat and moody this time.
With Coolie hitting theaters on August 14th, all eyes will be on the remaining tracks to set the energy the film needs.
