Politics in Tamil Nadu are heating up as the Assembly elections approach, with polling scheduled for April 23 and counting on May 4. Amid this, fresh controversy has emerged around Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
A key TVK leader, Aadhav Arjuna, recently made a controversial remark targeting superstar Rajinikanth during a public rally. He claimed that Rajinikanth had once entered politics with strong ambitions but was suppressed by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), suggesting he could not withstand its influence.
The comment quickly sparked backlash and dragged Rajinikanth into an unnecessary political debate. Responding to the remark, Rajinikanth termed the statement as being in poor taste and far from the truth. Maintaining his composed stance, he added that time would reveal the truth and that he would respond in detail at an appropriate moment.
The episode has put TVK in an uncomfortable spot during a crucial pre-election phase, as critics questioned the need to invoke Rajinikanth’s name in such a context. At the same time, Rajinikanth’s measured and dignified response has been noted as a mature way of handling the controversy.
