Amidst widely circulating rumors that South Superstar Rajinikanth will be supporting BJP in the upcoming RK Nagar By-election, the ‘Kabali’ star took to twitter to make it clear that he does not support anyone.
A day earlier, BJP candidate Gangai Amaran met Rajinikanth at his residence. Amaran’s son and noted Tami film director Venkat Prabhu shared the pic of the duo on social media and claimed that Rajini wished his father a big victory. This claim of Prabhu was widely seen by political analysts and media as Rajini’s indirect support to the BJP.
Finally, Rajini himself had to condemn these reports and once again assert that he is politically neutral. “My support is for no one in the coming elections,” he tweeted.
The picture of Amaran and Rajinikanth, doing rounds was dubbed by the rival parties as a ploy of the Saffron party to use Rajini’s popularity in the state for their political gain.
By-elections has become necessary in RK Nagar following the death of Jayalalithaa. The election has been taken prestigious by the AIADMK in order to keep Jayalalithaa’s legacy intact. On the other hand, DMK and BJP have also keen eye on this seat as it is regarded as the bastion of ruling party.
