Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, which originally released on May 9, 1990, is an iconic blockbuster in Telugu cinema. Now, on its 35th anniversary, the makers are re-releasing the film in both 2D and 3D formats. To celebrate the re-release, special hoardings were put up and a special interview featuring Chiranjeevi, director K. Raghavendra Rao, and producer Ashwini Dutt was released, generating nostalgic excitement among fans.
For years, fans have expressed interest in seeing a sequel to this fantasy classic. While director Raghavendra Rao hasn’t shown much interest in a sequel, producer Ashwini Dutt has consistently been open to the idea. Even Chiranjeevi is reportedly keen on a sequel starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.
In a recent promotional video, Ram Charan joked about the original film’s unanswered mysteries — like what happened to the magical ring and the fish — saying he’s demanding answers from director Nag Ashwin. This unexpected mention has reignited interest and speculation about a possible sequel.
Although Raghavendra Rao may not return for the sequel, Charan’s casual reference to Nag Ashwin suggests that discussions are happening behind the scenes. His comment could be seen as a subtle invitation for Ashwin to direct the sequel. The idea of Rajkumar and Indraja’s children being played by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor adds a fresh, exciting angle.
If Nag Ashwin, who is currently busy with the script work for Kalki 2, takes this project seriously, the sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari could become a sensation.
