One of Bollywood’s most eagerly awaited upcoming films, Ramayana, is shaping up to be a cinematic spectacle of epic proportions. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the magnum opus stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The mythological epic is being crafted as a two-part franchise, with grand worldwide releases planned for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027.
The film’s much-anticipated announcement teaser, clocking in at 156 seconds and approved with a U certificate by the CBFC, was initially set to premiere at the ongoing WAVES Summit in Mumbai. However, in light of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the screening was respectfully called off—a gesture that earned widespread appreciation.
Despite the change in plans, Ramayana continues to build momentum. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who attended the WAVES Summit along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visited the Ramayana pavilion. Deeply impressed by the sneak peek, he reportedly told the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, “This is how we should be telling our stories to the next generation. I believe what you’re creating will be among the finest in the world.”
The film is being made on a staggering budget of nearly ₹1,000 crore and features a powerful soundtrack composed by two legends—Oscar-winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. As the countdown begins for the public release of the announcement teaser, all eyes are on whether it can live up to its massive expectations and redefine Indian mythological storytelling on a global scale.
