Dulquer Salmaan’s latest period drama Kaantha, featuring Bhagyashri Borse as the leading lady and prominent roles by Rana Daggubati and Samuthirakani, continues to garner attention across South Indian audiences. The film, set in the golden era of Indian cinema, is jointly produced by Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati, with Selvamani Selvaraj at the helm.
During a media interaction today, Rana Daggubati revealed that the team aimed to pay tribute to the celebrated studio culture of the 1950s and 60s. He highlighted that director Selvamani Selvaraj crafted the film after extensive research, which has resulted in strong appreciation from Tamil audiences. “The Telugu audience is taking its time, but the response is good,” he added.
Rana further shared that Dulquer Salmaan’s first mirror scene became the defining moment that set the tone for the entire film, praising the actor for elevating Kaantha into a classic through his performance.
Bhagyashri Borse, who plays the female lead, expressed her gratitude for debuting with such a strong role. She noted that although other films released earlier, Kaantha marks a meaningful beginning for her as a serious performer.
Rana concluded by saying that the film’s reviews have pleasantly surprised the team, and he is confident that Kaantha will be remembered as a notable box-office success.
