Rashmika Mandanna Faces Backlash from Karnataka MLA

Actress Rashmika Mandanna remains one of the most sought-after stars in Indian cinema, with an impeccable box office record that reinforces her growing dominance. She has been a part of several historic blockbusters like Pushpa 2, Animal, and most recently, Chhaava.

However, despite her soaring success, Rashmika continues to face backlash from a section of Kannada cinema fans, stemming from her past relationship and broken engagement with Rakshit Shetty. This long-standing criticism has now escalated, with a Karnataka public representative openly lashing out at the actress.

Congress MLA Ravi Kumar recently voiced his disappointment over Rashmika’s absence at the International Film Festival in Karnataka last year. “Rashmika Mandanna, who started her career with the Kannada film Kirik Party, refused to attend the festival when invited. She said, ‘I have my house in Hyderabad, I don’t know where Karnataka is, and I don’t have time.’ One of our legislators even visited her house 10-12 times to invite her, but she refused and disregarded Kannada, despite building her career in this industry. Shouldn’t we teach them a lesson?” he stated.

While attending such events is ultimately a personal choice, Rashmika’s fans argue that the hypocrisy of the situation cannot be ignored. The same Government and Kannada industry that remained silent when Rashmika was subjected to relentless trolling and online harassment now expects her to represent them at major events. Many believe that after enduring years of social media toxicity, she has every right to distance herself from an industry that once failed to stand by her.

Despite the controversy, Rashmika remains focused on her career, with multiple high-profile projects in the pipeline. However, this ongoing tension between the actress and a section of Kannada cinema fans continues to make headlines.
