Rashmika Mandanna, one of the busiest actresses in Indian cinema, recently opened up about the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, shedding light on the pressures of overworking in the film industry. During a candid chat with manatelugu Pro while promoting her upcoming film The Girlfriend, she was asked about her past remark on not getting proper sleep for years and how she is managing her personal and professional life now.
Rashmika admitted that overworking is neither good nor worth it, stressing that she wouldn’t choose to push herself that hard if it were up to her. She expressed her wish for the film industry to adopt more structured working hours — similar to office timings like 9-to-6 — so that actors and crew members can enjoy a better quality of life.
“Glorifying overworking is not good. I overwork, and I suggest you don’t. It’s not sustainable,” Rashmika said. “Get your 8, 9, or even 10 hours of sleep because that will help you later in life. I’ve seen people talk about work timings recently. I’ve done both, and trust me, it’s not worth it.”
She further added, “If I could choose, I’d ask not to be made to work such long hours. There’s a family life I want to focus on, I want to sleep well, and I want to work out to stay fit and healthy. It’s not in my control now, but I’m thinking of the future.”
Speaking about her long-term plans, Rashmika shared, “I’m not a mother yet, but I know I’ll have kids someday. I already feel protective of those little humans who aren’t even born yet. I want to be strong enough to fight any battle for them if I have to.”
She concluded by saying that her 20s are for hard work, but her 30s will be about balance, ensuring she doesn’t lose herself in the process.
Rashmika’s comments have sparked widespread discussion online. Many appreciated her mature and grounded perspective, noting that she didn’t just talk about personal struggles but also highlighted the broader need for mental and physical well-being within the entertainment industry.
