Director Shankar’s pet project 2.0 is one of the most anticipated films in India. The sci-fi film, which is made on an extravagant budget of nearly Rs 500 crore, is all set to grace the screens worldwide on November 29.The Shankar directorial, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, has created astounding buzz ahead of its release, thanks to its VFX and action-heavy trailer.
The fact that over Rs 500 crore have been spent on the making of this film is another factor that has contributed to its solid hype.While there is still time left for 2.0 to arrive in the cinemas, it has already beaten 2017’s mega hit Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, that starred Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles.
If a report on Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, 2.0 is going to be released on 6600 to 6800 screens across India to become the widest release of all time thereby surpassing Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that had released on approximately 6500 screens.While 2.0 will grab 4000 to 4100 screens in the North Indian belt, it will be released on 1200-1250 screens in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. In Tamil Nadu, the number of screens is between 600 and 625.
In Kerala, the film will exhibit on 500 to 525 screens, whereas in Karnataka, it has claimed around 300 screens.If recent reports are anything to go by, 2.0 has earned over Rs 120 crore through advance bookings, which is a record. It has become the first Tamil film to cross the Rs 100 crore-mark ahead of its theatrical release.
