Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has completed over a year and a half in office, but until now, his administration’s performance has not been a major point of discussion. Key issues such as state development, industrial growth, education reforms, student welfare, water management, and the implementation of welfare schemes have not been his primary focus. However, in a recent shift, Revanth has turned his attention towards administrative reforms. A significant order issued by the Telangana government on Friday highlights this new direction.
For years, many retired officials have continued to hold key positions in the state government, exerting influence despite having completed their tenure. Their presence in crucial roles has remained largely unchanged, with no fresh appointments being made. Addressing this, Revanth made a bold move by deciding to remove all retired officials who are still serving in a contractual capacity. Reports indicate that around 6,729 retired officials across various departments are currently holding key positions in Telangana.
If this decision is fully implemented, several high-profile officials will be affected, including those heading major organizations. Among them are NVS Reddy, MD of Metro Rail, Kishan Rao, Vice Chairman of Yadagirigutta Temple, B.L.N. Reddy, Consultant Engineer, and nearly 10 directors in GenCo and TransCo. Notably, B.L.N. Reddy, who was serving as a consultant, was recently questioned by the ACB, ED, and CBI in connection with the “Formula E” car racing scandal alongside KTR. Meanwhile, NVS Reddy has played a crucial role in leading the Metro Rail project since its inception. With Revanth’s directive in motion, all these officials will have to vacate their positions, marking a significant administrative shift in Telangana.
