RGV Doesn’t Want to Be in Jagan’s Bad Books?

The Tollywood film industry which faced an expected crisis with the Covid pandemic did not take much time to suffer another big blow as the Andhra Pradesh government came up with a proposal to regulate the movie ticket prices so that the common people can watch the film. Back-to-back blows made it tough for the film industry.

The issue made even maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma turn critic of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government. In a series of tweets and interviews, Ram Gopal Varma said the government has no right to do so. He even met the then Cinematography Minister Perni Nani in the movie tickets price row.

Fans of almost all heroes, mainly Pawan Kalyan supported RGV as Pawan Kalyan’s films faced maximum issues from the government compared to others. No special shows were allowed and officials were deployed at the theatres to see that the tickets are sold at prescribed rates. This made a few theatres shut voluntarily.

Now Ram Gopal Varma surprised everyone by changing his stand on the tickers row. Without taking any names, RGV said that after a few films flopped at the box office, the makers announced that the ticket rates were reduced. The ticket rates for the films are quite high and Jagan did the same. Calling Jagan a visionary, RGV opined that the Chief Minister did what the makers are doing now.

It is strange that Ram Gopal Varma changed his stance at once. But what analysts say is that Ram Gopal Varma doesn’t want to be in the bad books of Jagan. He likes CM Jagan a lot but he never showcases the same openly.

Unlike other filmmakers like Kovelamudi Raghavendra Rao, Ashwini Dutt, and others who openly express their love towards Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, RGV keeps his love towards Jagan secretly.

Ram Gopal Varma indirectly showed his devotion toward Jagan with Lakshmi’s NTR film. As Jagan and Babu are political enemies, RGV showed Chandrababu Naidu as a cunning person in the film and highlighted how he took over TDP by backstabbing. To present Babu in a negative role, RGV cleverly did not touch on Nadendla Bhaskara Rao’s episode in the film.
