Roja, one of the most vocal leaders in the YSR Congress Party, is no stranger to controversy due to her outspoken remarks. Recently, she found herself in hot water once again after questioning Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s political credibility.
“Pawan Kalyan has the audacity to warn Y.S. Jagan, but I don’t understand his qualifications,” Roja said. “He didn’t win with the support of the people; it was all due to EVM management. Otherwise, how could someone who lost both constituencies in 2019 lead his party to sweep all 21 seats in 2024?”
With this bold accusation, Roja suggested that Pawan Kalyan’s victory was engineered rather than earned — a comment that quickly drew sharp reactions from Janasena supporters.
Janasainiks fired back by pointing out that Roja herself was elected as an MLA and Jagan became Chief Minister in 2019 using the very same EVMs. “If she believes EVMs are manipulated, then even her own party’s victories in 2019 must be fake,” one furious supporter remarked. Another added, “YCP’s defeat wasn’t due to machines; it was the people rejecting poor governance.”
Political analysts suggest that YSRCP’s constant allegations about EVMs reveal their refusal to acknowledge the real reason for their defeat — public disillusionment with Jagan’s leadership. They warn that unless the party accepts this reality and changes its narrative, YCP may face even deeper troubles in the future.
