Just two weeks ago, few would have predicted that Vijay Sai Reddy, a close confidant of YS Jagan, would step out of the YSR Congress party and sever ties with him. Sai Reddy, who has been one of Jagan’s most trusted aides and his family’s chartered accountant, leaving the party would have surely been a nightmare scenario for Jagan. However, there was one person who had anticipated this exodus months ago – former MP Raghu Rama Krishna Raju (RRR), who was once a part of YSR Congress before the 2024 elections.
When asked about Sai Reddy’s departure, RRR remarked, “Right after Jagan’s electoral defeat, I openly stated in front of the media that everyone will eventually leave him. Jagan is a unique person and lacks the ability to retain people with him. Anyone with any sense of dignity will not survive in his company. Not just Sai Reddy or Sajjala, but everyone in his inner circle will eventually leave him.”
Looking back, it seems RRR’s prediction about a mass exodus from YSR Congress was on point, with the departure of someone as loyal as Sai Reddy signaling that more such exits may follow. If a hard-core loyalist like Sai Reddy is choosing to leave, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other high-ranking members follow suit in the future.
RRR, who had suffered under Jagan’s leadership from 2019 to 2024, understands the dynamics within the party better than most. Having closely observed Jagan’s behavior and eventually becoming frustrated with it, RRR rebelled against the YCP leadership. Now, he is leveraging his experience to predict the unfolding political situation, and his foresight seems to be proving accurate as the exits from YSR Congress continue.
