Nine men who were planning to kill Andhra Pradesh government whip, Denduluru TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and two of his supporters have been arrested, Eluru DSP G Venkateshwara Rao announced.
According to the police authorities, former Sarpanch of Eluru rural mandal – Reddy Appalnaidu has planned an avenge for the MLA and assigned the task to local goons led by rowdy sheeter Yarlagadda Durga Rao aka Pandu.
Reportedly, Appalnaidu has offered Rs 10 lakhs to assassinate MLA Prabhakar and Rs 90,000 to kill his aide J Jayaramaraju. After coming to know that Prabhakar’s visit to a field in Gopannapalem, the local gang designed a plan to eliminate him at that place, but they efforts were thwarted by Eluru police and all nine members, including Reddy Appalnaidu was taken into custody.
While the court had sent them to remand till 24th of this month, the policemen are on lookout for other members involved in this murder attempt.
