Rs 4.5 lakh crore Investments In Modi’s Dream

Digital India is one of the dream projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While Centre allotted Rs 1.3 lakh crore for the ambitious project, Leading Industrialists in the country have come forward to support the initiative with an investment of Rs 4.5 lakh crore.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced investment of Rs 2.5 lakh crore for Digital India programme. Aditya Birla Group’s Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla pledged investment of $7 billion over the next 5 years in Smart Cities development and electronics manufacturing.

Sunil Bharti Mittal declared Bharti Airtel will be investing Rs 1 lakh crore in the five years from now. Vedanta Resources chairman Anil Agarwal promised investments of Rs 40,000 crore to establish an LCD Manufacturing plant which creates 50,000 jobs.

Wipro chairman Azim Premji, Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry and Anil Ambani of Reliance Group were other Corporate Leaders present for the launch of Digital India. As per the estimates, Over 18 lakh jobs will be created over the next 10 years solely because of Digital India.

Digital India mission brings Broadband Connectivity to 2.5 lakh villages and transforms the country into a digitally-empowered knowledge economy. Digital Locker, National Scholarship Portal, E-education and E-heath are given high priority.
