Rukmini Vasanth Shares Childhood Favourites

Actress Rukmini Vasanth, who garnered widespread acclaim for her role in the recently released film Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1, recently shared her favourite titles across different genres. Among her picks is the Farah Khan classic, Om Shanti Om.

Long shoot days, costume changes, and scripts that demand her full attention define Rukmini’s everyday life. Yet, even amid hectic schedules, she finds small joys that keep her grounded. Sketching between shots, revisiting beloved childhood comics, rewatching movies she knows line by line, and playing songs that match her mood are just a few of the ways she keeps her mind fresh.

Speaking about her routine, she said, “One habit I’ve fostered is keeping my attention focused on one thing on set. Phones scatter focus, so I journal sometimes or sketch. Sketching helps because, for those minutes, you are deeply focused on one object without emotionally drifting away from the character.”

Reflecting on her childhood, Rukmini fondly remembered Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics. “I used to enact Supandi for people—probably poor folks humoured a five-year-old going, ‘Supandi walks here, Supandi looks there,’” she recalled with a smile.

Her comfort watches reveal her tastes just as vividly. Proudly calling herself a “big rewatcher,” she picks Dark for intensity, Derry Girls for pure humour, and Om Shanti Om for warmth and nostalgia. “It pokes fun at the industry with affection, never cynicism. I find something new every time,” she added.
