After his road accident, Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej (Sai Durgha Tej) bounced back with the blockbuster Virupaksha, the biggest hit of his career. Later, he was seen alongside his uncle Pawan Kalyan in Bro, which unfortunately ended up as a flop. Post that, Tej planned a film titled Ganja Shankar with director Sampath Nandi, but the project was shelved. Since then, he has been away from the big screen for nearly two years.
Now, Tej is pinning all hopes on his most ambitious project, Sambarala Yeti Gattu (SYG). Directed by debutant KP Rohit and produced by Niranjan Reddy (who recently delivered Hanu-Man), the film raised good expectations with its teaser. The makers initially announced a Dasara release on September 25, but there has been no follow-up buzz on the film.
With just a month left for the promised release, it is now clear that SYG will not be hitting the screens on the announced date. Sources reveal that the film’s huge budget has already been exhausted halfway through the shoot, with several crucial portions still pending. Adding to the woes, the cine workers’ strike stalled progress, and mounting interest rates are further increasing the financial burden.
Amid these production hurdles, the team is also counting on strong pre-release business, which has been inconsistent in the current market. With all these challenges, it looks like Sambarala Yeti Gattu will take a few more months before it finally sees the light of day.
