YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy, who has been eyes and ears of party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, is most likely to get a key position in New Delhi shortly.
According to sources, Jagan has decided to appoint Sai Reddy as the special representative of the Andhra Pradesh government in New Delhi, which is a cabinet rank post with all powers.
He would liaison between the state and centre, taking up issues of the state with the NDA government.
Sai Reddy had played a key role in building up a close relation between YSRC and BJP in the last one year.
He had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times and had been in regular touch with the PMO on various issues.
He also led several delegations of the YSRC to the Election Commission, President of India and other top Union ministry officials to represent against the TDP government and was instrumental in getting several IAS and IPS officers in Andhra Pradesh transferred before elections.
Apparently, Jagan thought there will be no better person than Sai Reddy to be in Delhi and sustain the relations between YSRC and BJP.
He can also constantly pursue issues like special category status and release of finances from the centre to the state from time to time.
In all probability, Sai Reddy’s appointment would be finalised by next week, sources said.
