Sai Reddy’s Silence Fuels Speculation of TDP Alignment

It has been four days since YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy publicly accused the party’s former general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy of being “sold out” to Telugu Desam Party president and current chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Typically, such a serious allegation from a former boss would prompt a swift and strong response. In the past, Sai Reddy was quick to counter Jagan’s claims, especially those questioning his credibility, integrity, and allegations that he left the party out of fear. However, this time, Sai Reddy has remained silent.

A day after Jagan’s press conference, a statement purportedly from Sai Reddy began circulating on social media. It appeared to be a sharp rebuttal to Jagan, threatening to reveal more about Raj Kesireddy and the liquor scam during YSRCP’s tenure. Yet, Sai Reddy promptly denied issuing the statement, clarifying that he had not made any public comments and that any future remarks would come only through his official social media handle on X (formerly Twitter).

The question remains: why has Sai Reddy refrained from denying Jagan’s allegations directly? His silence has sparked speculation that he may have succumbed to pressure from Naidu, if not openly aligned with him.

Sources reveal that while Sai Reddy initially planned a strong rebuttal, he was compelled to stay silent after YSRCP’s social media team leaked a video showing him in a secret meeting with TDP leader T D Janardhan Rao.

Though Janardhan Rao is considered a marginal figure within the current TDP and sidelined by party general secretary Nara Lokesh’s faction due to alleged misconduct, he is still publicly viewed as a senior leader close to Naidu. This perception allowed YSRCP leaders to link Sai Reddy’s meeting with Rao directly to Naidu’s influence. They used the video to reinforce their claim that Sai Reddy had aligned himself with the TDP and that his statements regarding the liquor scam were politically motivated.

With the video serving as apparent evidence, YSRCP leaders believe they have successfully discredited Sai Reddy and validated Jagan’s accusations. Consequently, sources say Sai Reddy now finds himself unable to effectively defend or refute these claims.
