Saira Rahman, former wife of music composer AR Rahman, was recently hospitalized for a medical emergency and underwent surgery. In a press statement released by her legal team, she expressed gratitude to those who supported her during this challenging time.
The statement read: “Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalized due to a medical emergency and underwent surgery. Her sole focus now is on a speedy recovery. She deeply appreciates the concern and support from her well-wishers and requests their prayers for her well-being.”
Saira also extended special thanks to AR Rahman, Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, his wife Shadia, and legal counsel Vandana Shah. “I am truly grateful for the unwavering support of my friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, as well as Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman. Their kindness and encouragement have been a great source of strength. God bless,” she stated.
Amid her recovery, Saira requested privacy and thanked her supporters for their understanding.
Saira and AR Rahman announced their separation in November 2024 after 29 years of marriage. However, she clarified that their decision was due to her health issues and urged fans and media not to blame Rahman. “He is a gem of a person, the best man in the world,” she emphasized.
