After a prolonged wait, the much-anticipated sequel Salaar 2: Shouryaanga Parvam has finally been officially announced, much to the excitement of Prabhas fans. In order to live up to the massive expectations surrounding the franchise, the makers are reportedly planning to mount the sequel on a significantly larger scale with a staggering budget.

According to industry sources, the production team is planning to spend close to ₹400 crore on the action-packed sequel, which will feature elaborate sets and large-scale action sequences. The first installment of Salaar, produced by Hombale Films, was made on a budget of approximately ₹225 crore. The increased budget for the sequel is said to reflect Prabhas’ rapidly expanding global market.

“Prabhas has built a strong fan base across the world, including markets like Japan, and the makers want the scale of Salaar 2 to match that global reach,” revealed a source. The source further added that director Prashanth Neel is expected to begin work on Salaar 2 from March next year, even as he continues work on his ongoing project with Jr NTR.

On the occasion of Salaar completing its second anniversary, the makers officially confirmed the sequel on Monday, December 22, 2025, by unveiling a poster and teaser. The announcement put an end to long-standing rumours suggesting that the sequel had been shelved, which had earlier caused speculation and concern among fans.

“With both Prabhas and Prashanth Neel committed to multiple projects, the makers waited for clarity on dates and approvals before making the announcement,” the source explained.

Notably, Prabhas remains the only Telugu star to have successfully delivered a sequel with Baahubali 2 and is now set to headline two more sequels — Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar 2 — both expected to go on floors in 2026. This achievement is being hailed as a rare feat for a Telugu actor.

“He is ahead of even stalwarts like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Allu Arjun when it comes to sequel-driven projects. His pan-world appeal is motivating filmmakers to actively explore franchise filmmaking around him,” the source concluded.
