The trend of re-releases has firmly established itself in Tollywood, with the industry continuing to embrace and nurture it. This weekend saw yet another major theatrical re-release, this time featuring Salaar, which hit screens on March 21. The film generated significant buzz ahead of its release, primarily due to its high-octane action sequences and commercial appeal.
However, while the film managed to create a substantial pre-release hype, this did not entirely translate into box office success. According to reports, Salaar sold approximately 102,000 tickets on BookMyShow. While this figure might appear respectable in isolation, it falls short when compared to other notable re-releases.
For context, Gabbar Singh recorded 175,000 ticket sales, while Murari and Businessman each secured around 145,000 tickets. On a national scale, Interstellar holds the record for the highest number of tickets sold for a re-release, with a staggering 234,000 sales.
Given these comparisons, it is evident that Salaar did not achieve the same level of success as its counterparts in the re-release circuit. Despite the pre-release anticipation and audience interest, the film’s theatrical run delivered only moderate returns. In conclusion, while Salaar benefited from a strong initial buzz, its overall performance as a re-release remains unremarkable in terms of box office impact.
