Samantha on Authenticity and Ambition

Actor and entrepreneur Samantha Ruth Prabhu candidly spoke about authenticity, vulnerability, and ambition in the perfection-driven world of cinema at the NDTV World Summit 2025. During a session titled “Authenticity: The New Fame,” Samantha reflected on navigating personal struggles in the public eye.

“I don’t think authenticity is a destination — it’s a work in progress,” she said. “I don’t have everything figured out, but I can speak about it. I’m not perfect; I may stumble or make mistakes, but I’m trying to be better.”

She addressed how her separation and illness became public spectacles. “Anyone who has followed my journey knows my personal struggles. The separation, the illness — all very public. It came with a lot of trolling and judgment for being open and vulnerable,” Samantha explained.

Highlighting the pitfalls of curated celebrity culture, she noted, “Everyone sees how the top 1% live — their yachts, their homes. That can be demotivating. It’s important to stay grounded and responsible.”

For Samantha, ambition must be purposeful. “Ambition should not run wild; it must have a purpose. Young people today should choose their mentors carefully — it can change their lives,” she advised.

Tracing her sense of authenticity back to her modest upbringing, she concluded, “What you do with your platform is what truly matters.”
