Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made a remarkable impact with just three films. His debut, Arjun Reddy with Vijay Devarakonda, became a sensational box office hit despite its bold narrative, establishing him as one of Tollywood’s most sought-after directors. He later made a strong mark in Bollywood with back-to-back hits Kabir Singh and Animal.
Sandeep’s irreverent attitude and candid approach to critics often draw comparisons with maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Like RGV, he does not hesitate to voice his opinions during media interactions, earning admiration from both audiences and industry insiders. Interestingly, RGV himself has praised Sandeep’s craft and conviction.
Even India’s biggest director, S.S. Rajamouli, holds Sandeep Reddy in high regard. During a recent movie event, Rajamouli compared him to RGV, noting that directors of his caliber come once in a blue moon. After the release of Animal, Rajamouli reportedly called him ‘RGV ka Baap’—a fact RGV revealed during a roundtable discussion with Nagarjuna and Sandeep as part of promotions for Shiva 4K.
Rajamouli admires Sandeep’s unconventional style, particularly his bold approach to character development and scene-writing. This recognition highlights the respect Sandeep has earned from some of the biggest names in Indian cinema despite having directed only three films. Up next, he is set to direct Prabhas in the much-anticipated cop drama titled Spirit.
