At the 2025 Republic Plenary Summit, Chandrababu Naidu was invited as a special guest, where he shared his insights on various subjects. Coincidentally, tennis champion Sania Mirza was also present at the event. Sania, whose illustrious career in tennis is well known, credited much of her early development to the strong support she received from Chandrababu Naidu during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
As Chandrababu Naidu entered the event, the host introduced him as a visionary leader. “Chandrababu Naidu is not just a promoter of industry, but also one of the most influential leaders in promoting sports, especially in Southern India,” the host remarked. The host then compared the support Naidu gave to sports during his tenure with the growing corporate backing athletes receive today.
Sania, recalling her interactions with Naidu, highlighted his pivotal role in supporting various sports during her formative years. “Chandrababu Naidu garu was the Chief Minister when I was growing up. I had the privilege of having wonderful interactions with him,” she shared. “Back then, Andhra Pradesh was one of the few states in India, 25 years ago, that initiated significant sporting ventures like the National Games, which gave athletes like me an incredible opportunity to build our careers.”
