Imanvi Responds to Controversy with Powerful Statement
The recent tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, casting a somber shadow over the nation. The Indian film industry, too, has responded, with several celebrities condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with the victims. Meanwhile, social media has been abuzz with debates, as many users called for a complete boycott of Pakistani actors and technicians in Indian films.
Amidst this emotional climate, Prabhas and Hanu Raghavapudi’s upcoming film found itself at the center of controversy. The film’s lead actress, Imanvi, came under scrutiny after unverified social media reports alleged that she is the daughter of a Pakistani military official. The rumor quickly went viral, with sections of the internet demanding her removal from the film.
However, Imanvi has come forward to categorically deny these claims. In a heartfelt note shared on social media, she clarified that the rumors about her family’s alleged Pakistani military ties are completely false. She identified herself as a proud Indian-American and expressed her deep sorrow over the Pahalgam tragedy.
“First and foremost, I want to express my most sincere and heartfelt condolences for the tragic event that took place in Pahalgam. My heart goes out to all those who lost their lives and their loved ones. I strongly condemn such violent acts,” she wrote.
Addressing the rumors directly, she added, “I want to clarify that no one in my family has ever been associated with the Pakistani military. These baseless allegations have been fabricated by online trolls to spread hate and division. What’s even more disheartening is how some media outlets and social media users amplified this fake narrative without fact-checking.”
Imanvi went on to share her background: “I was born in Los Angeles after my parents legally immigrated to the U.S. and became American citizens. I am fluent in Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, and English. After completing my university education, I pursued a career in the arts as an actor, choreographer, and dancer. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work in the Indian film industry, which has been a huge influence in my life.”
She concluded with a call for unity and compassion: “As we grieve the loss of innocent lives, let’s continue to spread love and support one another. Art has the power to create empathy, raise awareness, and bridge cultures. I hope to carry forward that legacy by contributing positively to Indian cinema and honoring my heritage.”
In the wake of misinformation and rising tensions, Imanvi’s statement serves as a reminder of the need for responsible discourse, empathy, and a commitment to truth.
