Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially addressed the rumours surrounding her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal, confirming that the marriage has been called off. The announcement was made through an emotional note shared on her Instagram story, where she also appealed for privacy during this difficult time.

The wedding was originally scheduled to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown. However, the celebrations were abruptly postponed after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell seriously ill just hours before the ceremony. The situation further worsened when Palash Muchhal was also hospitalised the following day due to health complications.

Following these developments, Smriti deleted all posts related to her relationship and wedding festivities from social media, fuelling speculation about the status of their relationship. Over the past few days, rumours intensified that the couple had parted ways.

Putting an end to the speculation, Smriti wrote, “Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.” She further requested everyone to respect the privacy of both families and refrain from further assumptions.

Reaffirming her focus on her career, Smriti added that her primary purpose remains representing India at the highest level. “I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward,” she concluded.
