Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, describing it as an “inhumane act of violence.” The actor expressed his grief and solidarity with the families of the victims in a heartfelt post on social media platform X.
The brutal attack, which occurred on Tuesday in the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in south Kashmir, claimed the lives of at least 26 people, most of them tourists. It stands as the deadliest strike in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
“Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam,” Shah Rukh wrote.
“In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we as a Nation stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act,” he added.
In response to the tragedy, a complete shutdown was observed across several parts of the Jammu region on Wednesday. Cities including Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Katra, Kathua, and Samba remained closed in protest.
Protesters took to the streets in various areas of Jammu city, raising anti-Pakistan slogans and demanding justice for the victims of the attack.
