The sudden visit of former Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal to the residence of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday evening has kicked up an intense debate in the social media circles.
Lagadapati came to KCR’s residence-cum-camp office Pragathi Bhavan at Begumpet to invite the Telangana chief minister to the wedding of his son Ashrit on November 25.
He also presented him with a bouquet and both of them exchanged pleasantries. On Thursday, too, Lagadapati came to the state legislative council and gave wedding cards to several TRS leaders, besides spending time with them for a long time.
It was definitely surprising to many Telanganites, as Lagadapati was the bitter critic and enemy of KCR during the movement for separate Telangana state. He used to attack KCR with strongest terms and even tried to rebuke the latter by taking up fake fast unto death to oppose Telangana formation.
And people still remember how Lagadapati got into news with his infamous pepper spray incident in Lok Sabha in order to stall the Telangana bill on February 18, 2014.
Now, the same Lagadapati met KCR and invited him to his son’s wedding, triggering a big debate in the media circles. One section of the media finds fault with KCR for giving an appointment to Lagadapati, forgetting how the latter tried to stop Telangana till the eleventh hour.
“It’s shameful that KCR has shaken hands with a bitter enemy,” they said.Another section argues that it was the fault of Lagadapati to surrender before KCR and invite him to the wedding.
“In fact, Lagadapati has lost his shame in meeting KCR. After KCR cannot turn down a guest, even if he is a past enemy. The former MP should not have invited KCR for the wedding,” another section commented.
